- Plan and administer treatment according to veterinary guidelines, legislative requirements, and animal welfare codes of practice
- Refer complex problems or signs of disease for specialist advice and treatment
- Carry out control measures as required to prevent the spread of communicable diseases
- Implement procedures for reporting notifiable diseases according to legislative requirements
- Manage livestock health and welfare
- Integrate requirements of the regulations and animal welfare code of practice into the health and welfare strategy and workplace procedures
- Analyse and evaluate health and welfare records
- Ensure compliance with withholding periods for treatments
- Evaluate livestock post-treatment for evidence of treatment effectiveness and any further health problems
- Review treatment outcomes and evaluate processes for effective management planning and best practice
- Evaluate animal health, biosecurity and emergency procedures in a review of the animal health and welfare strategy
- Maintain records for health and welfare strategy
